We Believe We Know Our Clothes,
but our clothes know us with far greater precision, they know that you pull at your collar when you are thinking, that your left cuff catches on the edge of your workbench, that your keys live in the right pocket and have created a small, insistent landscape there. After two years, a shirt becomes a map, the collar is frayed where thought lives, the cuff is polished where work lives. The pocket is stretched where habit lives, if one were to take that map and re cut it as a pattern, exaggerating the worn zones with gold foil, reinforcing the touched places with delicate embroidery, the next shirt would not be a replacement, it would be a topography of ritual, it would show, without any need for statement, where a life has actually happened.
